Chemical active agents

Chemical active agents include pharmaceutical active agents such as antibiotics and hormones, surfactants such as detergents and emulsifiers, and various industrial chemical active agents such as pesticides, insecticides, and dyes.

These substances, due to their stable structures, some biotoxicity, or environmental persistence, pose an increasingly serious threat to ecosystem balance and human health.

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), a class of technologies that efficiently degrade recalcitrant organic pollutants by generating strong oxidizing free radicals (primarily hydroxyl radicals, OH), can effectively remove chemical active agents from water.

They are relatively simple to operate, do not generate secondary sludge, and have excellent degradation potential for a wide range of pollutants.

1. Removal of Pharmaceutical Active Ingredients (Antibiotics, Hormones, etc.)

UV/H?O? technology demonstrates excellent degradation efficiency for a variety of antibiotics (such as sulfonamides, tetracyclines, and macrolides) and environmental hormones (such as estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and ethinyl estradiol (EE2)), with removal rates exceeding 90%. The UV/H?O? process effectively degrades sulfonamide antibiotics, such as sulfamethoxazole (SMX). The degradation pathways may involve hydroxylation, nitrosation, and aniline ring opening, resulting in low- or non-toxic small molecules.

2. Removal of Surfactants (Detergents, Emulsifiers, etc.)

UV/H?O? technology has been studied for the degradation of various surfactants, including anionic surfactants (such as linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cationic surfactants (such as quaternary ammonium salts), and nonionic surfactants (such as alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers (APEOs)).

3. Removal of Industrial Chemicals (Pesticides, Insecticides, Dyes, etc.)

UV/H?O? technology can effectively degrade a variety of pesticides (such as organophosphorus pesticides and carbamate pesticides) and dyes (such as azo dyes, anthraquinone dyes, and triphenylmethane dyes). For organophosphorus pesticides, UV/H?O? effectively degrades them, with degradation rates exceeding 97%. The degradation mechanism primarily relies on the attack of ·OH on specific chemical bonds (such as azo bonds -N=N-, ester bonds, and C-P bonds) and the opening of aromatic rings within these complex organic molecules.

Customized Solutions for Chemical Activator Removal

Targeting the high-concentration, difficult-to-degrade, and toxic wastewater typical of key industries such as pharmaceuticals, printing and dyeing, agrochemicals, fine chemicals, and electroplating, Anlis can help customers develop integrated, modular, skid-mounted, and intelligent UV/H?O? treatment equipment and optimized process packages, providing customized solutions tailored to each facility.
